Wildlife and Landscape Extra Edition

Greetings, Campers. Silver Cliche' here with a special morning edition focused on the wildlife and landscape of our nation's midsection.

Yesterday morning at Stockton Lake, Missouri and this morning at Milford Lake, Kansas there was a commotion in the water near our silver shack. Both mornings it turned out to be fish spawning.

Here's a video that Mrs. C' took on her iPad yesterday of the hot action in the water:

We think these were walleye. Maybe some of you piscators can confirm or correct that.

Anyway, this morning it seems to be large mouth bass (but you be the judge). Here are two still frames of the action.

I'm thinking next year's fishing will be great. These guys can't keep their fins off one another. It made me think of that TV commercial with the couple in their individual bathtubs and I said: "Hey... maybe there's something in the water in these lakes!". I considered drinking a glass.. after all, these are reservoirs... right? Then it hit me. Maybe the positive effect of these waters doesn't work on the male of the species. I think its better if I take some with me to use for coffee making tomorrow morning. More on that in a future blog.

Lots of birds, flowers, butterflies, etc. here. We've had the trailer open since sunrise.. .side door, back door the works. Zero mosquitoes! Having started in Florida and worked our way through the southland all I can say is: I think I like Kansas.

Here are some shots from around the trailer:

One last shot... sunrise this morning taken from outside the trailer:

OK... time to pack up and hit the road. Ft. Riley Kansas (home of the big red 1) is just down the road. It sounds like they just started 155mm howitzer training while I've been writing this. I'm not sure how accurate they are, so I think its time to get out of Dodge (which is, by the way, in Kansas) and head farther West. Next update from the greater Hays/Ellis Kansas metropolitan area.
